New(er) guy Jason leading the charge


The reality-distortion field in play as we descend 84. But truthfully, this is the actual angle of the bike, since the camera is mounted in a fixed position, perfectly parallel to the handlebars. So whatever angle the photo is "leaning" is in fact the exact angle the bike is leaning. I hope not to take a video that demonstrates what it means to lean just a little bit too much.

Jason isn't exactly new to the ride; he'd shown up maybe a year or so ago, but looks like me might be seeing him on a more-regular basis. This morning, while everyone else was being a bit lazy, Jason took the lead up Kings, with me trying to keep him in sight. He does bring down the age curve quite a bit at 31, but it's not such a bad thing for the more "experienced" in our group to believe that we can keep up with the up & coming, even if they're just playing with us.

Let's see, who did we have today... Kevin (pilot), Eric, Jason, MarkP, Joe & Karen. The other Kevin was claiming to have had not enough sleep because his dad suggested watching a world war II movie (Downfall) and he had to survive through both school and work afterward. Sigh.

A little bit warmer each day, still bone-dry (I think we've only had a couple rides the past few months where there was even a hint of moisture on the roads), and it appears that January, despite the ridiculously-nice weather, remains an "easy" month with nobody really pushing too hard on the climbs.

Life is good.
