It’s that time of year again, time to ride up Mt Hamilton on New Year’s Day so, no matter how the rest of the year goes, you know you accomplished something. Provided, of course, you’re on Strava, ‘cuz if a ride’s not on Strava, it didn’t happen.
Not sure of transportation to the base of the hill; someone has mentioned driving and picking Kevin and I up, but the basic plan remains the same- we’ll be starting out from the base of the hill (Alum Rock & Mount Hamilton) at 10:30am. If we take the train, we’d be on the one that arrives in San Jose just before 10am (leaves Redwood City at 9:09 I think?) and then ride to the ride.
Weather will be… cold. What else is new? Looks like about 40 at the top and likely not much different elsewhere.
This is not a formal ride; there’s no support, just a coke and snack machine at the top that takes only crisp (dry) dollar bills. And, hopefully, a spectacular view. I figure just under two hours to get to the top, half an hour up there, and about an hour getting back down. Look forward to seeing a lot of Strava flybys! –Mike–
