I was thinking about a really nice, long ride today, but Becky asked if I’d go on a ride with her, and since (other than commuting) that’s something that doesn’t come up very often, it couldn’t be turned down. The main event would have normally been her third (I think?) time up Old LaHonda, quite an accomplishment for her (she’s not a climber) but Kevin and I talked her into something a bit more ambitious. The “other side.” That’s right, up Old LaHonda and then down the other side to 84 & back. Her first ride with a magnificent view of the coast.
It wasn’t easy convincing her of the value (or even the possibility she could survive) of riding down the other side of Old LaHonda and back up 84. We explained the easy grade back up 94, but after the main Old LaHonda climb, I’m not sure she was believing us! But she made it without much trouble. A whole lot less trouble than the motorcyclist on 84 apparently had (as you can see in one of the photos).
25 miles, no Strava accomplishments today (although Becky would have a few if she’d post her rides!). Need to ride some make-up miles this week.
Way yo go Becky. Good job.
