Who needs pictures of Chris Froome looking like he’d be lost without Ritchie Porte when you come across something like this! We found these two guys about a third of the way up the Col de la Madeliene which, curiously, was about as far as we got up the mountain today. The plan had been to make a grand loop, but the weather forecast looked so bad that I gave serious thought to scrapping any riding at all. Fortunately when I got up, it didn’t look like the weather forecast was correct, so we drove out to La Chambre and got as high as we could before overtaken by the race.
